Disavowed - Revocation of the Fallen review (2020)
Truth is, that when it comes to Technical Death Metal, I have certain requirements : I want the compositions to matter over the form and (any) virtuosity to serve the music rather than a meaningless exhibitionism. In a nutshell, I want the music to be memorable and enjoyable...
Fortunately, this is something that Disavowed have very much succeeded into achieving. Shorter songs, less insanely fast guitar riffs, "compensated" by a brutal, thicker sound and much more discipline in the execution which in the end of the day delivers a result much more comprehensible by the listener. Call me stubborn but this is how I prefer my (Technical) Death Metal. This is why I also very much liked Revocation of the Fallen.
